It was revealed that abuser Joel was killed by victim Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) with the murder covered up by her boyfriend Max Turner (Paddy Bever). The crucial flashback on the bridge revealed that Lauren delivered the fatal blow to Joel's head, killing him with rock, while he strangled Max.
