Coronation Street fans slam 'annoying' and 'sanctimonious' character Responding to the original poster on , one fan said: "Alya has always been annoying and sanctimonious!!" Another added: "Can’t stand her.

.. never could, the character is so sanctimonious and has ugly false superiority.

" A third user penned: "I don’t like her. And I don’t think the relationship with her and Adam works either." Another joked: "You can't deny how clever she is.

Anyone who can go to Dublin (ROI) for 6 months and come back as a qualified expert in English law, capable of representing clients in custody is extremely talented." One viewer defended the character, telling the others: "She’s infinitely preferable to Leanne Battersby. So in abetted between the two, I’m team Alya all the way.

" Another said: "I love her! She's quite animated, which makes for a good actor. She has good rises and falls in pitch. I'm sure the actor is tired from having her baby a few months ago, but I can barely tell.

"She's one of my favourites, personally. Her and Yasmeen are a wonderful pair for scene work." However, one person wrote: "Less likeable than some, more likeable than others I could mention.

I have never seen her be anything other than an animated drama queen though.".
