The world's largest camellia maze is now in bloom at Tregothnan gardens

Cornwall's a-mazing maze is preparing to welcome the public for two days only. The gates to private botanical garden Tregothnan famously open for charity just once a year. Its only opening in 2025 will be on April 26 and 27.

It's a chance for people to see the world's largest camellia maze, which is now in bloom with row after row of stunning pink blossom. Tregothnan, near Truro, is renowned for its unique microclimate, diverse plant collections, and pioneering tea plantations, including the world's largest tea gardens in Europe. Organisers say: "Visitors can experience Tregothnan’s unequalled diversity of trees, historic, botanical and rare collections, sweeping vistas and peaceful secluded groves on the banks of the beautiful river Fal.

"Get lost in ancient camellias, mountainous magnolias and the biggest rhododendrons in the world with 40 foot crescendos of full flower. The sheer scale of the garden, over 100 acres, means that there will be plenty of peace." The stable yard at the gardens will be transformed into a fabulous food court for the event, serving lunch and cream teas with entertainment throughout the weekend.

A pop-up shop will sell teas and estate produce. Dogs on leads are welcome to attend the weekend and children under the age of 18 can visit for free. The garden will be open from 10am – 5pm, with the last entry at 4pm.

Tickets are £15. Find out more and book online ..
