AO , the UK’s leading electrical retailer, has released figures documenting the country’s “concerning” cooking decline when it comes to the simplest of British dishes, including an English breakfast. Their data found that just one in two of the respondents to a major survey would feel confident making a roast dinner, 54 percent could tackle fish and chips, and 51 percent could make a classic shepherd’s pie. They also found that only 60 percent of the respondents could make a full English breakfast.
With that in mind, AO has released their recipe for making a full English breakfast in just five minutes. This recipe serves one person but can be easily doubled or tripled. Ingredients: One sausage (pre-cooked or quick-cook) One slice of bacon One egg Half a cup of baked beans One tomato, halved One slice of bread One to two mushrooms, sliced, optional Method: Start by microwaving the beans for one minute by placing them in a microwave-safe bowl before setting them aside.
Next, fry the sausage and bacon in a large frying pan over high heat. This should take around one minute for the precooked sauce and one minute for the bacon per side. Make sure to ensure all meat is cooked through and piping hot before serving.
Next, toast the bread while the sausage and bacon are cooking by popping the bread in the toaster for one minute. Fry the egg and tomato in the same pan as the sausage and bacon by pushing them to the side. Turn the heat up and crack an egg into the empty space.
Add the halved tomato cut side down next to the egg. Cook for one minute until the egg white is set but the yolk is still runny. Plate up and serve immediately with optional black pepper, ketchup and brown sauce.
