Convicted felon wanted for rape

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Shreveport police are asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted for rape. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Louis James Bates, 20, in connection with the February rape of a 68-year-old woman.

He's wanted on a charge of first-degree rape. Bates was identified as a suspect in September through evidence collected during the woman's rape kit. He has a prior sexual criminal history, which further supported the issuance of the arrest warrant, police said.
