Here's a run down of some of the latest planning applications that are currently being decided on by Hull City Council which include an application to transform a former NHS health centre into 36 flats. The application for the former Westbourne Health Centre proposes turning the site, which was placed on the market in October 2024 following its closure, into 36 flats. Planning documents submitted to the council state: "There will be minimal visual impact arising from the proposed development, being that the proposals are to retain an existing building with minimal external alterations.
There will be no physical alterations to the main building other than a single new window." The plans also include 42 car parking spaces and space for the storage of 36 bicycles which are to be for use by residents of the proposed development. The council has received an application for erection of a nine-apartment block on the site of the former pub called The Orchard Park .
The application states the residential units would be fully accessible and designed around the needs of prospective occupants. Access to the site for cars, bicycles, wheelchairs and pedestrians will be off 8th Avenue. The planning document also states: "The site will be enclosed on the West and East sides with palisade fencing to 1.
8m in height. The enclosure to the front and rear will be by high hooped metal railings to 1min height, set on a gravel strip with a mixed species hedgerow behind." The council has also received an application for the refurbishment of Alfred Schofield House on Alfred Gelder Street.
The building was once used as a local branch of the Bank of England and is Grade II listed. The application in question is to refurbish the twelve apartments that now make up the 18th Century building. The proposed works include the replacement of some windows, electrical rewiring, the replacement of kitchens and bathrooms to the flats, and improvements to external decorations including railings and gates.
