Vancouver - The 'Quiz on Korea' Canada preliminary round for 2025 was held on Saturday, April 12, at the University of British Columbia (UBC). This event is a global Korean Wave quiz program where participants compete in their knowledge of Korean culture and history, tackling various questions in a spirited competition. Approximately 1,500 participants from around the world took part in this competition, which was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KBS.
The top 20 representatives from the preliminary rounds will have the opportunity to advance to the finals, which will be held in September this year at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. Participants faced questions covering a wide range of topics, including the Korean language, history, and culture, providing a chance to deepen their understanding and interest in Korea. In the Canada preliminary round, UBC graduate Renee Chen Zhang emerged victorious and earned a spot in the finals.
Renee demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills and extensive knowledge of Korean-related topics, garnering significant attention. She is excited about the opportunity to develop her abilities further in the finals and is thrilled to represent Canada in Korea.
