Article content As the incumbent candidate in Regina-Lewvan, the Conservative Party of Canada’s Warren Steinley says he “will take nothing for granted” while he looks to retain his seat in the April 28 federal election. Steinley, whose campaign office is located at 4532 Albert St., has been out door-knocking and will “continue to work hard each and every day until the election,” said his campaign team in a statement to the Leader-Post.

Heading into this election, Steinley and the Conservatives are pushing for a National Energy Corridor which would fast-track infrastructure to reduce Canada’s reliance on the U.S. for fuels and energy, said the Steinley team.

The party also promises to cut income tax by 15 per cent for the lowest-income bracket, his team highlighted. Steinley grew up about 200 kilometres west of Regina on a farm near Rush Lake. He graduated from the University of Regina with a bachelor’s degree in political science and went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration.

He served eight years as the Saskatchewan Party MLA for Regina–Walsh Acres but vacated the provincial seat before the end of his final term to run federally. Steinley first won the northwest Regina riding in 2019 and was re-elected in 2021 . His seat in the House of Commons was previously held by Erin Weir , who decided not to run again that year after being ousted from the NDP caucus over harassment allegations.

This year’s other candidates in Regina-Lewvan are: Mac Hird (Liberal Party of Canada), Ray Aldinger (NDP), Michael Wright (Green Party of Canada) and Godwin Ezizor (People’s Party of Canada).
