Lourence Singh will no longer be running as the Conservative candidate in New Westminster-Burnaby-Maillardville. Singh’s name was listed on the Conservative Party of Canada’s list of candidates on Tuesday morning. By Tuesday evening, it had been removed, and the party had confirmed to several media sources that he was no longer a candidate in the riding, but no explanation was given.
The Record has contacted the Conservative campaign for comment. More to come. Earlier in the day, the Conservatives stated Stefan Marquis (in the Quebec riding of Laurier-Sainte-Marie) and Mark McKenzie (in the Ontario riding of Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore) were no longer candidates for their party.
The Record is currently aware of three candidates still vying for the New Westminster-Burnaby-Maillardville seat in the House of Commons: Peter Julian (NDP); Jake Sawatzky (Liberal Party of Canada); and Tara Shushtarian (Green Party of Canada). Elections Canada has stated a complete list of all confirmed candidates would be available on Wednesday, April 9..
