A man was left covered in blood after a confrontation with Conor McGregor's security guard. The incident happened in Dubai where the Dubliner was hyping up a BKFC event at the Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Friday, making his way through a sea of people desperate to get a glimpse of the MMA star as he paraded through the venue, appearing to be all smiles as he greeted fans and engaged in conversation. Out of nowhere, however, a member of the crowd made a bold attempt to break through the wall of security surrounding McGregor, only to be met with a solid right hook from one of the guards, who was in no mood for any antics.

McGregor remained unfazed as the scuffle unfolded, casually shrugging his shoulders as his security team swarmed the individual, reports The Irish Star. The 36-year-old tried to get a glimpse of what was going on and who the person was who tried to get too close to him, before swiftly continuing with his night. Meanwhile, footage eventually re-captures the would-be attacker being led away as blood streams down his face.

McGregor, who acquired a hefty share in BKFC last year, has hinted at throwing his hat into the bare-knuckle boxing ring before long. He's still got a pair of fights left under his UFC contract, though he hasn't stepped into the octagon since a leg injury during a match with Dustin Poirier back in July 2021. McGregor was slated for a comeback against Michael Chandler the following June but had to withdraw due to a broken toe, and there's been no word as of yet on a rescheduled bout.

Fed up with the delay, however, McGregor has played with the idea of sidestepping his UFC obligations to make a surprise BKFC debut. "One of these days you'll just hear my music come onto this stage in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and I'll have my fist wrapped with no gloves for a fight, out of nowhere," McGregor told The Schmo. "No promotion.

No promo. No nothing. Just fighting a random fight on the card.

That could be what the future holds." McGregor told assembled media last week: "I've got two fights on the [UFC] contract, I'm in negotiations. Last week, something happened to me.

I went to the White House, and my heart bleeds for my country right now. So there's a lot of stuff going on back home..

. I'm happy with what I've done." McGregor added: "There's something else for me that's in my gut right now, and that's kind of where I'm going.

So we'll see, greatness doesn't rush. And right now, Ireland is in my thoughts and that's where I'm at." Get the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email .
