Pune: Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal on Friday accused state govt of shielding culprits responsible for the death of a woman after she was allegedly denied treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and sought an SIT probe . "We are demanding that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be constituted to investigate the case in detail and a retired judge should head it. Unless the entire truth comes out and the guilty are punished, the victim's family will not get justice.
We are also demanding to dissolve the entire managing committee of the hospital," Sapkal said, after meeting the family of the deceased woman, Tanisha alias Ishwari Bhise, in the city. "Inquiries through three committees are nothing but tactics to protect some people in the case. If state govt was sensitive towards the case, it would have registered a police case against the doctors concerned and the hospital management," he said.
Sapkal defended Congress MLA Vijay Waddettiwar's criticism of the Mangeshkar family in the case though the latter drew flak from Mahayuti for his comment. "We have respect for the Mangeshkar family for their contribution in the field of music, but it is shocking that none of the family members have spoken about this issue," Sapkal said.
