The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has labeled a United States court's summons to the Indian government as "completely unwarranted." The summons were issued in response to a civil suit filed by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani terrorist. Pannun alleges that there was a conspiracy to assassinate him.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed these allegations during a news briefing, stating that they had already taken action when these issues were first brought to their attention. High-level committee engaged in Pannun's case The US District Court for the Southern District of New York issued the summons, naming the Government of India , National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, former R&AW chief Samant Goel, R&AW agent Vikram Yadav and Indian businessman Nikhil Gupta. The court has sought a response within 21 days.
Gupta is currently incarcerated in a New York jail on charges related to a murder-for-hire plot. Misri confirmed that a high-level committee is actively engaged in this matter.
