The Ice Storm Warning the National Weather Service put into effect Friday night into today has cancelled or postponed all games and meets for Newton High School athletes this weekend. Friday night’s girls and boys basketball games at Dallas Center Grimes were postponed to next Tuesday, December 17th. The same 6 p.
m. start time will be in effect for the girls game, with the boys game to follow. Both can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream with pre-game coverage at 5:45 p.
m. Today’s Newton girls and boys bowling meet at Cardinal Lanes in Newton against Bondurant-Farrar has also been postponed. No make-up date has been announced.
The meets the Cardinal girls and boys wrestling teams were going to today were both cancelled and will not be made up. The girls were to compete at the Southeast Polk Invitational, while the boys were headed to an Invitational at Saydel High School. A noon swim meet today at Marshalltown High School has also been cancelled, eliminating one competition from the schedule for the NCMP boys swim team.
