A community of family and friends filled the skies with balloons to show their support for girls who were seriously injured on Halloween. Last evening more than 50 people turned up next to St Cuthmans Church in Whitehawk, Brighton , to release pink and silver balloons. Children, parents and relatives all showed up in a show of solidarity with the four girls who were left with life-threatening injuries after an accident at Wendy’s in Western Road, which led to them being taken to hospital with burns.

Laughter and cheers could be heard the moment all the balloons lifted into the air in unison. Apart from the balloons, St Cuthmans Church was there to also support its community by providing free hot chocolate to all who were there, in a show of solidarity. As the balloons left and disappeared into the sky, they symbolised a moment that will not be soon forgotten for the families of the four girls, and it is hoped it can bring them hope in such an uncertain and difficult time.
