Moody was a past regent of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the NSDAR from 1938-1941, as well as past state regent for the Louisiana Society DAR from 1942-1945.
Hindu Vedic Society of Baton Rouge -- The Hindu Vedic Society of Baton Rouge celebrated its Hindu Festival Dussehra on Oct. 5. Gathered are, from left, Aarav Adimulam, Vishwa Katta, Arhah Jain, Roshan Ramesh Kumar, Yuva Katta, Aradhya Menon and the show director Veena Kumar.
While she lived briefly, dying in 1953 at the age of 49, she was the driving force behind the establishment of the genealogy library at the Main Library at Goodwood. The collection has been named in her honor as the Annie Laurie Moody Library and is used by library patrons and researchers around the country. Its seminal acquisitions were made with generous financial contributions by Moody.
Her grave marker, which includes the NSDAR symbol of the spinning wheel, has now been raised, restored, cleaned and made accessible to the organization and the public wishing to honor her memory. Breast Cancer Awareness -- On Oct. 20, Sarah Holliday-James was celebrated for perseverance, strength and courage at 'Breast Cancer Awareness in Bling' presented by HD Bling Apparels and Heiress Beauty Lounge.

" Larguia, a New Orleans-based artist and teacher, works in both watercolor and oils. He studied at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts and taught there for 20-plus years. A reception coinciding with the exhibition will take place from 5:30 p.
m. to 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Archives Gallery. Besides art, the evening will include music, wine, light refreshments and conversations with the artists.
Guitar and flute duo Bill Arey and Pat Wattam will provide music. The reception is free and the public is invited. The exhibit is open during regular Archive hours, 8 a.
m. to 4:30 p.m.
