The Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, has called on the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, to reconcile with all those who felt aggrieved over his emergence. Fasuyi, in a congratulatory message to Haastrup, on Monday, noted that the process that produced the royal father, may not be perfect. He also urged him to reach out to other contestants, especially the Bilaro Ruling House, to heal wounds caused by the contest for the throne.

The community leader also appealed to all aggrieved parties in the royal contest to sheath their respective swords in order to sustain the tempo of sustainable development in Ijesaland. “The selection process of our new Imperial Majesty Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Ajimoko III may not have been % perfect, but all of us as Ijesas owe it a duty to jealously protect and preserve those values that have distinctly characterised us as forward-looking race and trusting that our new Imperial Majesty would heal all perceived wounds with prompt initiation of reconciliatory mechanism with other Contestants from his Bilaro Ruling House. Haastrup, on Sunday, received Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment at an event attended by prominent Nigerians across all walks of life. The monarch, who in his inaugural address, declared war on land grabbing in his domain, was presented the staff of office by Governor Ademola Adeleke in the presence of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun and Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi. Haastrup succeeded the late Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, whose death occurred on September 11, 2024, at the age of 86, bringing down the curtain on over 40 years of reign.
