Hyderabad :The Telangana Education Commission (TEC) on Friday submitted a draft Bill aimed at regulating and monitoring fees in private unaided schools. The Bill, submitted to education secretary Dr Yogita Rana, proposes a structured framework to address concerns regarding fee transparency and management. Akunuri Murali, chairperson of the commission, along with members Prof.
P.L. Vishweshwara Rao, Dr Charakonda Venkatesh and Jyotsna Shiva Reddy, presented the draft after consultations with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, teachers, school managements and civil society groups.
The proposed bill categorises private unaided schools based on factors like location, land availability, infrastructure, teacher quality and extra-curricular facilities. “Our objective is to create a scientific framework for categorisation and fee regulation that balances the interests of schools and parents,” the commission stated in its submission. The draft also incorporates suggestions from extensive workshops and meetings to ensure equitable fee structures while maintaining quality education.
The TEC said it hopes the initiative would usher in greater accountability and transparency to private school management in the state..
