The Washington Commanders pulled off a 27-22 victory over the New York Giants in a tense matchup at MetLife Stadium, overcoming offensive inconsistencies to secure their second win over their divisional rivals this season. Despite rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels having his least efficient passing game since Week 1, Washington’s balanced offensive effort and timely defensive plays ensured the Commanders’ march toward the postseason. Joseph Maiorana-Imagn Images Washington took an early lead, scoring on every drive except their first in the opening half.

After a defensive sack-fumble recovery, Daniels led the Commanders on a short 31-yard drive, capped by a 1-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin. The Giants quickly answered, but the Commanders stayed focused, responding with a 1-yard touchdown run by Austin Ekeler, stepping in for the injured Brian Robinson Jr. With just six seconds remaining in the half, Daniels found McLaurin again on an 18-yard touchdown, propelling Washington to a commanding 21-7 lead at halftime.

Jayden Daniels had his worst passing game since Week 1, finishing with only 209 yards on 15 completions. Despite connecting with McLaurin for two touchdowns, Daniels struggled to establish rhythm, facing pressure from the Giants’ defense and leading to a reliance on field goals in the second half. Washington’s offense slowed down after the break, reaching the red zone twice but failing to find the end zone despite making it deep in the Red Zone twice.

Instead, they settled for field goals on their scoring drives, allowing the Giants to narrow the score in a late-game push. However, Washington’s defense held strong in crucial moments to seal the victory.
