The Washington Commanders fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 26-18 on Thursday Night Football, dropping a pivotal NFC East clash and losing further ground in the divisional race. The defeat also underscored a concerning trend for Washington, as their once-perfect fourth-down efficiency continues to decline. Entering Week 9 with an unblemished 11-for-11 fourth-down conversion record, the Commanders have since converted just one of their last three attempts over two consecutive losses.

Against the Eagles, Washington’s struggles were evident late in the game. Trailing 12-10 in the fourth quarter, quarterback Jayden Daniels was tackled for a loss on a crucial fourth-and-2 play at Philadelphia’s 25-yard line. The Eagles wasted no time capitalizing on the turnover on downs.

Running back Saquon Barkley broke free for a 23-yard touchdown, extending the Eagles’ lead to 19-10 with under five minutes left. On the next Commanders drive , Daniels threw an interception, and Barkley delivered the final blow with a 39-yard touchdown run to seal the victory for Philadelphia. Washington’s offense was largely inefficient throughout the game, converting only three of 12 third downs and generating 264 total yards.

Daniels completed 22 of 32 passes for 191 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, adding just 18 rushing yards on seven carries.
