Combermere School staged a motorcade on Thursday as student athletes, the cheerleading team, old scholars, teachers and ancillary staff sporting the bright yellow and blue colours to continue their celebrations of retaining the boys’ title and finishing second in the girls at the 2025 BSSAC Championship. At approximately 10 a.m.
the motorcade moved off from the Waterford based school compound with former student and DJ Ramon Ramon G Green setting the tone for the day as he mixed soca and dancehall tracks to the approval of the “University of Waterford” throughout their journey. As the motorcade made its way down Station Hill, onlookers waved from their homes, while the Combermerians returned the appreciation. Children of the Eagles Academy were smiling and running to get a glimpse of the motorcade as it moved down Harmony Hall.
The sea of blue and yellow made its way through Roebuck Street and into the City, where workers at establishments like Number 1 Beauty Supply paused for a moment to take in the celebrations. The party continued onto Bay Street and all the way up Collymore Rock. The energy of the motorcade was reaching its peak as it proceeded past Charles F.
Broome Memorial School, where students waved. The peak came when Cawmere made a special stop at the Springer Memorial School. The students burst through the school gates and celebrated Combermere’s achievement.
An unexpected appearance was made by beloved old scholar and former teacher Stuart Mayers. Mayers got all of the students to gather around in a circle to perform his famous call and response of ‘Cawmere!’ and students responded with ‘Yes!’. He continued by asking with excitement, ‘Are we the best?’ and the students enthusiastically followed up with ‘Yes!’ once more.
Physical education teacher Jarad Murray was happy with how the celebrations went. “ I think the athletes need to be celebrated for all the hard work that they have done. We had a really good championship so I am proud to see we can come today and celebrate fittingly.
”Murray added that it was about 80 athletes, 20 cheerleaders along with staff who participated in the motorcade.(NGM) The post Combermere School continue celebrating BSSAC success appeared first on Barbados Today..
