Combating Rising Terrorism

There has been a continuous rise in brutal terrorist attacks in KPK, Balochistan, and other parts of the country. One thing is clear: this is organised warfare, with a command and coordination structure, a regular supply and funding chain, and sleeper cells within the country. It is time to cut off this ammunition supply chain and source of funding immediately.

The greed and corruption of a few individuals, regardless of how powerful they may be, must not be allowed to stand in the way. The fresh recruitment of insurgents is driven by the exploitation of a sense of deprivation, social media propaganda, and the unresolved issue of missing persons. The supply chain can only be severed if smuggling across the borders — which has become a regular feature — is completely eliminated.



Fresh recruitment can only be curtailed by addressing the genuine grievances of people living in these areas. It is an unfortunate reality that powerful individuals involved in politics or associated with various government agencies are the beneficiaries of this illegal activity. Everyone is aware of the billions of pounds involved in the illegal tobacco, fuel, and drug trade, which has been ongoing for decades.

As long as these loopholes exist, allowing large-scale smuggling to take place, the supply chain for terrorism will continue to thrive.
