I have some things to say about abortion. Buckle up. This could be controversial.
As some of you might know, I think that abortion should be prevented with proper access to and use of birth control. I’m not your traditional pro-life advocate. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.
Lying like in most Colorado political campaigns. Especially the ones that you are watching right now. So .
.. regarding Amendment 79 I feel we must ask ourselves, why do we need abortion “enshrined” in the Colorado Constitution? WestWord, up in Denver, described this well recently, “Colorado already has among the most permissive abortion laws in the country; it is one of 29 states where abortion is broadly legal and one of only a handful with no ban or limit on abortion based on how far along a pregnancy is.
” Last week, Dusti Gurule, co-chair of the pro-Amendment 79 campaign, Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom said, “We need to be bold and go as far as we can to ensure that things like this can’t get stripped depending on who’s in office,” He continues being deceitful declaring, “Even though folks think that Colorado and other states are blue or we have a lot of these things in place already, threats are always there.” That man’s pants should have caught fire! Colorado is in no danger of a sudden change to “red.” Or in danger of amendment, never mind removal of abortion in our state.
Anyone looking at the voting margins in the Colorado House or Senate sees this clearly. Unfortunately, the average Coloradan struggling to pay rent (1 in 3 are cost burdened) has no time to look at the Colorado House or Senate. And they believe whatever lies the government paid toxic media in Colorado is publishing this week.
Let’s just get to it. Proposition 79 is just a government money grab for an abortion industry that was not experiencing the growth that it wanted. I bet they can pay their rent.
Or mortgage. Clearly, abortion advocating politicians (and campaigners) in Colorado are manufacturing the “reproductive health care freedom problem” to collect government funds on behalf of this industry. The industry that earned record profits since 2021.
As reported by NPR, since the overturning of Roe vs Wade at some municipal and state governments have allocated $208 million to pay for abortion and support services for people seeking abortions. This is reported according to data provided by the National Institute for Reproductive Health. What a lift nationally for an industry that was actually in stagnation.
This isn’t less true for Colorado. It’s truer for Colorado. You see, Proposition 79 will allow state funds, aka taxpayer dollars, to be used to pay for abortions.
This accessing of programs paid with tax payer funds like Medicaid and state employee health insurance, which is prohibited under a constitutional measure passed in 1984 will put tax money in the pockets of abortion providers all over the state. Like I told you, this is just the abortion industry grabbing tax payer dollars to line their pockets. And they aren’t alone.
The same idiot lawmakers who won’t bring relief to you on these high rents and mortgages are also making money off the personal crises of women. Let me show you more. According to the 2024 Abortion Worldwide Report Thomas W.
Jacobson & Wm. Robert Johnston, Colorado abortions annually were very stable around 12,000. Since the overturning of Roe vs.
Wade abortions in Colorado are at a new high of about 23,000 in 2023. That’s right — almost doubled the abortions in the last few years and bringing in record profits. This industry profit was made by advertising to states around us that this was the place to get an abortion after Roe vs.
Wade was sent back to the states. Yet these people want us to believe that reproductive rights are in danger. When it comes to getting paid, they just won’t stop tricking you.
And the abortion industry is not in this fraud alone. I’m sure a perfunctory look at Tracer for Democrat members of the House and Senate in our state will show above average contributions from the abortion industry into the coffers of our lawmakers. We do not need abortion “enshrined” in the Colorado Constitution.
Vote NO on Proposition 79. Why pay the bills of the abortion industry or their partner legislators? Rachel Stovall is an event manager, entertainer and community advocate..
