Colorado is making it clear that Travis Hunter should be the runaway favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this year, with Pat McAfee sharing his thoughts on the matter . Recently, Colorado released a video on its social media accounts promoting Hunter. Simply captioned "Generational talent," the brief video showcases Hunter, propping up the two-way star as a player college football and the NFL had never seen before .
In that same vein, the video also is meant to showcase just how impressive the 21-year-old has been this year, playing under head coach Deion Sanders . And while college football fans latched onto the quick video, McAfee, too, expressed his envy at how talented Hunter is. Deion Sanders sends clear warning to NFL teams over drafting Travis Hunter and son Shedeur LeBron James made feelings on Travis Hunter clear amid Michael Jordan comparison Replying to aforementioned video, McAfee wrote: "Would be so cool to be Travis Hunter.
.. what an absolute BEAST.
" And in the Buffaloes 49-24 win over the Utes, Hunter showed just how versatile he was, making winning plays on both ends as Colorado won its fourth straight game. Against Utah, Hunter had five catches for 55 yards and one touchdown while also having one carry for five yards. On defense, the star was on full display, with three tackles, one pass breakup and one interception - his third of the year - which was for a 21-yard return.
Additionally, Hunter is just 89 yards from surpassing 1,000 yards receiving on the season, which is considering there are two regular-season games remaining on the schedule. There is also the Big 12 title game and College Football Playoff appearances to account for. It wasn't only McAfee who was impressed with the 21-year-old.
After his stellar game against the Utes, NBA superstar LeBron James posted on X just how incredible Hunter played against Utah, further cementing his status as one of the best players in college football. "I don't hear non of those @CUBuffsFootball @DeionSanders HATERS being up front and loud!" the Los Angeles Lakers star posted after the win . "They’re in hiding now! Coach Prime said 'We Coming'.
Well it’s 'We Here' now. Love what’s going on there in Boulder." Considering how talented Hunter is, it stands to reason that there will be many teams vying for the two-way star's signature.
However, Sanders has made it clear he would do what it takes to make sure Hunter and star quarterback Shedeur Sanders are in the best position to succeed in the NFL . During an appearance on FOX Sports 1's 'Speak,' co-host Keyshawn Johnson asked the NFL legend if he would have a say during the interview process. While the coach did not name which teams he would like Shedeur and Hunter to avoid, he clarified that he could influence the decision-making process.
“Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly. I’ll do it privately,” he said. “I’m gonna be Dad until the cows come home, and with Travis as well.
This kid loves this game and he has an insatiable appetite to win. And I want somebody to be able to propel him to the next level as well, not just get drafted by a team because we ain’t having it.” Want to watch more live sports? Peacock has your favorite sports, shows, and more all in one place.
