Colorado Springs police on Sunday arrested a man suspected of attempting to kidnap a child, law enforcement officials said. Darryl McLaurin, 35, faces charges including second-degree kidnapping, enticement of a child and failure to register as a sex offender, according to police. Just after 10 a.

m. Sunday, CSPD was notified of a suspicious circumstance at a fast food restaurant in the 1200 block of North Academy Boulevard, near Uintah Street, police said. An employee expressed concern about a man who had walked into the restaurant with a young girl.

The employee, who was familiar with the man, believed that the girl did not belong with him. Investigators determined that McLaurin lured the girl away from the courtyard of an apartment complex in the 3700 block of East San Miguel Street.

“The child has been reunited, unharmed, with her parents,” officials said in an online blotter entry. Anyone with information that might help this ongoing investigation is asked to call CSPD at 719-444-7000..
