The Colorado Buffaloes football team found itself in the center of an apparel controversy leading up to last weekend's 41-27 win at Texas Tech. According to the owner of Red Raider Outfitter , an alumni-owned Texas Tech apparel store that creates custom game day T-shirts, the University of Colorado declined to license a "Celebrate America" themed T-shirt due to the American flag being paired with both teams' logos. With fans accusing Colorado of being unpatriotic or potentially hating the American flag, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders addressed the "disturbing" accusations after the Week 11 game.

Colorado athletic director Rick George has also refuted the store owner's claims . On Saturday, Colorado beat the Utah Utes 49-24 at home, and a pre-planned military appreciation celebration all but put the controversy to rest. Shedeur Sanders finished the day with 340 yards, three touchdowns and one interception on 30-of-41 passing as Colorado posted its largest point total of the season.
