Colonels drop second straight, fall to Bell County

LOG MOUNTAIN — Bell County captured its fourth win in a row while handing Whitley County its second setback in as many games during the Bobcats’ 44-24 win on Friday.

LOG MOUNTAIN — Bell County captured its fourth win in a row while handing Whitley County its second setback in as many games during the Bobcats’ 44-24 win on Friday. The Bobcats (4-1) started the scoring off thanks to a two-yard touchdown run by Kaleb Miller, putting his team ahead 8-0 with 8:05 remaining in the first quarter. The Colonels answered with a six-yard touchdown run by Dee Parker, who also added the two-point conversion, tying the game at eight apiece with 3:20 left in the first quarter.

Miller’s second rushing touchdown, a two-yarder with 8.9 seconds remaining in the opening quarter, pushed Bell County’s edge to 16-8. Hunter Everage added a five-yard touchdown run with 8:37 left in the second quarter to give his team a 24-8 cushion.



Bell County wasn’t finished scoring just yet. Blake Burnett hit Cayden Huff in stride for a 63-yard touchdown strike to push the Bobcats’ lead to 30-8 with 4:40 remaining until halftime. Whitley County managed to cut its deficit to 30-16 right before halftime after a 46-yard touchdown run by Parker.

Miller’s third touchdown run, a six-yarder, gave his team a 38-16 advantage with 9:24 left in the third quarter. Blake Burnett added a touchdown for Bell County to give his team a 44-16 lead while Parker added a rushing touchdown last for the Colonels..
