College volleyball: SCTCC Cyclones edge Ridgewater Warriors in 3 sets

Ranked Cyclones beat the Warriors 25-18, 25-14, 27-25

ST. CLOUD — The Ridgewater volleyball team put together a valiant effort in the third set against the 14th-ranked team in Division III on Wednesday. Ultimately, the Warriors lost to St.

Cloud Technical and Community College in three sets, 25-18, 25-14, 27-25. The loss drops Ridgewater to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. The Cyclones go to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the MCAC.



The Warriors were led offensively by Martha Steinhagen. The freshman outside hitter/opposite-side hitter from Southwest Christian had seven kills and an ace serve. Rachel Jakel, a freshman middle blocker/outside hitter from Renville County West, had six kills and 18 digs.

Emma Kallio, a sophomore from Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, tallied 21 set assists, eight digs and a pair of ace blocks. Ridgewater is back in action at 6:30 p.m.

Friday against Anoka-Ramsey at Coon Rapids. The Golden Rams are 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. SCTCC 3, Ridgewater 0.
