'College Offense!' Bengals Ridicule Jayden Daniels, Commanders

Jayden Daniels should be honored, in a back-handed sort of way. Last week, Cincinnati Bengals' trash-talking cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt set the bullseye on the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy. This week's target: the Washington Commanders' rookie quarterback.

Ramping up to the Monday Night Football matchup in Cincy, Taylor-Britt shrugged at Daniels' play this season and referred to the Commanders as a "college offense." The Bengals are 0-2 after losing at Kansas City on a last-second field goal. The Commanders are 1-1, fresh off a bizarre win over the New York Giants in which they scored on every possession but never found the end zone.

“They don’t make him do a lot,” Taylor-Britt said of Daniels. “They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense, (Kliff) Kingsbury, the OC.

They move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is very high, but he’s only throwing short routes. Some intermediate stuff, quick throws.

” He's not wrong. In two starts Daniels is completing 75 percent of his throws, without a touchdown, incompletion or gain of more than 35 yards. He has rushed for two scores.

Last week Taylor-Britt said of Worthy, "Speed, that's about it. He can't do too much else." Related: ‘Solid!’ Jayden Daniels Attracts Attention of Ex Commanders' Coach He backed up the talk with a highlight, one-hand interception of Mahomes in the 26-25 loss.

The winless Bengals will be a hungry, desperate team come Monday night. But thanks to Taylor-Britt, the Commanders - specifically Daniels and Kingsbury - just might have a little more motivation now also..
