Ohio State lost a major piece of its football team on Wednesday. Head coach Ryan Day announced that All-American center Seth McLaughlin has suffered a torn Achilles injury and will be out for the rest of the 2024 season. McLaughlin suffered the injury on a non-contact play at practice on Tuesday.

He's one of the top centers in the country and was in line to potentially win the Rimington Trophy, which goes to the nation's best center. This news has college football fans feeling awful for McLaughlin. Scott Taetsch/Getty Images "My heart sank when I heard the news about Seth.

This feels like the most obvious option considering Hinzman’s experience at center. But won’t be an easy task up against IU’s D line," one tweet read . "Well, there we have it!! I think we're gonna be okay!! Losing Seth definitely hurts, but I still like this lineup.

Prayers for no more injuries," another fan tweeted . "Carson has been incredible at LG since Simmons went down but this is the right move. You can’t put a RS Freshman with limited snaps at Center for this stretch run against the top D lines.

Please work," another tweet read . "Makes sense. The logical decision," another fan tweeted .

Carson Hinzman will start at center going forward. The Buckeyes have the biggest game of their season this Saturday when they host the 10-0 Indiana Hoosiers. A win would give the Buckeyes their 10th victory of the season and they'd be one win away from officially clinching a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game.

Kickoff for Saturday's game will be at Noon ET. Related: Ryan Day Announces Crushing Season-Ending Injury News.
