A cloudy, rainy Thanksgiving will precede colder weather this weekend in Catawba and surrounding counties. Rain will begin to fall in the region Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Thursday will see a chance for more rain with highs in the mid 60s.
Meteorologist Mike Rehnberg with the National Weather Service in Greer, South Carolina, said a chance of thunderstorms could not be ruled out, but the storms should not be severe. “It should be run-of-the-mill thunder,” Rehnberg said. “It’s not common this time of year, but it does happen.
” Rehnberg said the area could expect to receive one- to two-tenths of an inch of rain. The temperature will drop after Thanksgiving. Thursday night lows will be in the low 30s for much of Iredell, Catawba, Burke and McDowell counties.
Friday’s highs will be in the low 50s. Saturday and Sunday will see high temperatures in the mid 40s. Lows over the weekend are expected to be in the low to mid 20s.
