Colby College’s new athletic director is highly regarded on the national stage. Amanda DeMartino was named Athletic Director of the Year for Division III by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics in 2022, and was hired over from The College of New Jersey last week. I can see how the College has transformed itself over the last 10 years, and it was evident to me that it is a place that cares about being the best,” DeMartino said in a press release.

“I love DIII athletics because of the holistic student experience. Certainly, I am competitive and I love to win, but we have the opportunity to develop character and prepare students for life after college.” DeMartino will officially assume duties on Oct.

At the College of New Jersey, Demartino oversaw 20 varsity programs from 2017 to 2024, bringing four individual national championships, five Final Four appearances, 147 NCAA appearances, and 65 conference regular season and tournament championships to Ewing.

DeMartino previously served as an Athletic Director and head women’s basketball coach at Northwood University in Florida, beginning in 2008. “Her work has been nationally recognized for her constant pursuit of excellence for both students and staff. We are very excited for her to join our community.” DeMartino graduated from Brandeis University in Boston in 2006, where she co-captained the Judges women’s basketball team to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
