Coimbatore youth arrested for posting incriminating reel on social media platform

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore city police have arrested a youth for uploading an incriminating reel on his Instagram page. According to police, the young man was trying to establish himself as a notorious rowdy in the area through his social media activities. The arrested youth has been identified as A Santhosh Kumar, 22, of North Housing Unit at Selvapuram in the city.

Police said the youth had completed undergraduate degree and was searching for a job. He often posted reels on his Instagram page -- ‘Santhosh3_official_’. Selvapuram police sub-inspector Manikandan was checking the social media on Sunday evening and noticed a reel.



In the reel Santhosh Kumar is seen standing in front of Selvapuram police station and posing himself as a rowdy element with a background song. He mentioned a hashtag that he would chop the legs of anyone who entered his area. SI Manikandan lodged a complaint with the Selvapuram police who registered a case against Santhosh Kumar under sections 192, 351 (3), and 353 (1) (b) and 353 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police arrested him on Sunday night. He was produced before a judicial magistrate who granted him conditional bail with a severe warning. Police said the youth was searching for jobs and was posting reels often in social media.
