PETALING JAYA: Sabah head coach Ong Kim Swee will leave the squad after his contract ends at the end of this month. The 53-year-old announced his decision on Thursday (Nov 21), and will lead the team in his final match against PT Athletic on Saturday (Nov 23). Kim Swee had spent 36 months leading The Rhinos and appreciates the time he has spent in Kota Kinabalu.

“My 36 months with Sabah have been truly remarkable and not a short journey by any means. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this amazing football club and to be part of its history,” he said in a statement. Kim Swee had led Sabah to finish third in the Super League for three consecutive seasons, and also brought them to the 2023 AFC Cup.

Kim Swee’s sudden departure from the club could also hint at a return to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM)..
