
For the first time in 4 decades, the rebranded CNN Center Building, now called “The Center”, will be available for leasing. The Florida-based CP group, which now owns the building, will be renovating the 1.2-million-square-foot space into a mixed-use development.

The video shows how the exterior as well as the atrium space inside will be transformed.
The first look of the “The Center” shows a sizable digital sculpture, which spells “ATL”, that will be placed at the entrance to the building, replacing the large CNN logo. The fly through video goes into the atrium space, which is shown to be lined with restaurants.A collaboration with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and local arts advocates Neda Abghari and Bem Joiner has also been announced.
This will bring curated artworks, including custom murals and other art installations to be part of the renovated space.The architecture firm, TVS, and the design firm, Holder Construction, will come together to re-imagine the space. Core Twelve, the branding agency, will be taking care of the rebranding.
The retail leasing for the building will be managed by Healey Weatherholtz Properties.As per the official announcement, once the redesign project is completed, the building will have retail, dining and entertainment spaces. A high-end restaurant has already been confirmed to be taking over 10,000 square feet, although its name remains confidential.
As the leasing is ongoing, the space is expected to have more attractive destinations for shoppers, diners, and eventgoers. CP Group has not confirmed when the transformation of the CNN Center will be completed.Before it was rebranded, the CCN Center was a landmark, being the headquarters of the news organization in Downtown Atlanta.
It is located in proximity to other landmarks like the State Farm Arena, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the Centennial Olympic Park.The new redevelopment plan marks the third time the building has gotten a new look. The building started off as the Omni Complex in 1976 and became the CNN headquarters in 1986.
The redevelopment plan for “The Center” in Downtown Atlanta will turn into a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It is expected to become the newest happening place in the city, like Ponce City Market, the Battery, and Avalon in other parts. The urban core of Downtown Atlanta has been seeing Billions of dollars coming in as investments as part of its revitalization.
