LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday directed the authorities to simplify the procedure regarding the Asaan Karobar Finance and Asaan Karobar Card schemes to ensure that busi­ness loans are tailored to the specific needs of entre­preneurs across the province.

Chairing a high-level meeting to review progress on both initiatives, the chief minister emphasized the importance of en­couraging the establishment of new business units. She instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that loan disbursement is aligned with individual busi­ness requirements and directed officials to actively promote the schemes to aspiring entrepreneurs.

During the briefing, it was revealed that over 80,000 loan applications have been approved un­der the business finance schemes so far, with loans already granted to 34,000 entrepreneurs through the finance and business card programs. Benefi­ciaries span various sectors including transport, pharmaceuticals, and small-scale enterprises. US stocks down as trade war with China escalates In a surprise move, CM Maryam Nawaz Shar­if personally called several loan recipients during the meeting to gather direct feedback about the schemes.



One such call was made to Adnan Ali, a grocery store owner, who received Rs 355,000 through the Karobar Finance Card. Ali expressed his gratitude and said the funds had significantly helped him stock goods and grow his business. Another call was made to Moinuddin from Taunsa, who runs an agricultural input business.

He shared that a loan of Rs. 156,000 enabled him to purchase supplies such as khal, banola, chokar, and wanda, which helped boost his operations. Moinuddin was taken by surprise at the direct interaction with the chief minister and thanked both her and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for intro­ducing such a helpful initiative.

The chief minister also spoke with Nadeem Ahmed, a grocery shop owner from a suburban village in Lodhran. Tags: maryam easing asaan.
