The venue, on Banks End in Wyton, is one of 17 across the UK earmarked for closure before the end of the year. The chain announced the closures as part of a cost-cutting measure and restructuring plan.
They identified 11 garden centres and six Little Dobbies shops as 'unprofitable' and stated that the move was designed to 'address historically uneconomical rent costs'. The Huntingdon centre will close on Monday, December 23. Once shut, the nearest Dobbies garden centre available to customers will be located in Phorpres Way, Hampton, Peterborough .
Other centres and shops that are due to shut before the end of 2024 include Cheltenham, Gloucester, King's Lynn, Reading and Stratford-upon-Avon among others. The move is said to affect 465 out of its 3,600 employees. A total of 60 garden centres will remain open and all stores will continue to operate as usual until the closing date.
The company also confirmed there would be no impact on suppliers. A full list of the 17 Dobbies branches set to close by the end of the year can be found here .
