Closed military zone: Mount Hermon fills with snow

Site usually flooded with Israeli visitors now announced off limits amid high snowfall across all areas of the mountain; rainy spell set to continue across the country

In a typical year, Israeli ski enthusiasts would be en route to Mount Hermon on Monday, or at least planning their trip north in the coming days. However, the area remains a closed military zone this winter amid the ongoing war. Snow continued to fall on the northern mountain overnight.

Temperatures at the lower level dropped to 0°C (32°F), with snow accumulating to a depth of about 30 cm (12 inches). At the upper level, temperatures fell to -3°C (26°F) and snow depth reached approximately 40 cm (16 inches).
