THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The protesting sanitation workers, yet again created dramatic scenes in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation after they climbed the entrance archway and threatened suicide. The protestors alleged that the corporation failed to keep its promises or consider the workers' demands. This is the third such suicide threat made by the workers in front of the corporation in over a month.

Earlier, the workers threatened to commit suicide by climbing on top of the tree in front of the municipality. Despite not being municipal contract workers or municipal-approved sanitation workers, these people have been collecting organic waste as voluntary workers for the past 15 years. They are now protesting after the corporation kept them away from work and assigned duty to Haritha Karma Sena and other agencies.
