Clifton Street Belfast crash claims life of male cyclist

Clifton Street in North Belfast (Image: Belfast Live) A cyclist aged in his 50s has died following a road traffic collision in North Belfast on Thursday morning, police have confirmed. Shortly before 7:50am, it was reported that a lorry and a cyclist were involved in the collision at Clifton Street. The man, who was the cyclist, sadly passed away at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The road has been closed in both directions for several hours following the early morning rush hour crash with diversions in place. A PSNI spokesperson said: “Clifton Street remains closed in both directions between Carlisle Circus and North Queens Street, with both on slip and off slip onto the Westlink at Clifton Street closed.



“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information, or who may have dash-cam footage available to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 178 21/11/24.” The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed that it received a 999 call at 07:53 on Thursday, 21st November following reports of an RTC in the Clifton Street Area, Belfast. A NIAS spokesperson said: "NIAS dispatched two emergency ambulance crews and one doctor to the incident.

Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, no patients were taken to hospital."
