Clemson football announces death of former receiver Diondre Overton

CLEMSON — Former Clemson receiver Diondre Overton has died. He was 26. Clemson's football program confirmed the news in a post to X/former Twitter on Sept.

7, though the exact cause of death hasn't been officially confirmed. Overton's career spanned from 2016-19, making him a member of the Tigers' national championship teams in 2016 and 2018. "Clemson Football and the entire Clemson Family mourns the passing of Clemson alumnus Diondre Overton.



Our thoughts are with his family and friends," the football program's post read. Overton, a Greensboro native, finished his collegiate career with 52 catches for 777 yards and seven touchdowns. In his senior season, Overton earned the Leather Helmet Award as the MVP of Clemson's win over Boston College, hauling in three catches for 119 yards and three touchdowns.
