Pune: A 29-year-old bus cleaner died from a severe head injury after falling from the top of a luxury bus on Ganeshkhind Road on Friday. The incident occurred around 4.15am.
According to sub-inspector Shamal Patil from Chatushrungi police, the deceased — identified as Sanket Devidas Chailwal , a resident of Baramati — had climbed onto the bus roof to hold up low-hanging overhead wires that were obstructing the passage of the bus at the entrance of the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management. "Chailwal did his job perfectly and the bus crossed the arch without causing any damage to the wires. However, when the bus entered the Ganeshkhind Road, the driver applied brakes for Chailwal to come down.
But, due to the sudden jerk, Chailwal lost his balance and fell. He was taken to a hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead," Patil said..
