Class 4A roundup: Loyola, Minden, Northwood and Woodlawn collect victories Friday

The Loyola Flyers got three touchdown runs from Mason Drake and quarterback Bryce Restovich ran for one and passed for three more in a 48-14 victory against Cedar Creek.

The Flyers improved to 2-1 on the season.

Drake scored on runs of 7, 6 and 1 yard. Restovich had a 16-yard scoring run and passed 4 yards to Colby Hamilton and hit Ben Brewer on scores of 2 and 44 yards. Evan Lirette hit on six of his seven point after kicks.



Northwood 64, Mansfield 32 The Falcons spread the wealth in the win and remained unbeaten (3-0) with the romp of the Wolverines at Jerry Burton Stadium. Northwood took a 29-18 halftime lead and never let off the gas adding 35 more in the second half. John Sneed, Kyran Johnson, Tomarcus Keith, Nate Cervantes and Peyton Boone all ran for scores and Jaxon Bentzler passed to Duntavious Young for another.

Gauge Lummus had a blocked punt for a score as well. Northwood will be a rival North DeSoto to open District 1-4A play next Friday. Minden 20, North Webster 0 In a defensive battle that had just one offensive touchdown, the Tide allowed the Knights just 49 yards in posting the shutout.

Caylien Aubrey’s 8-yard run in the first quarter for Minden was the only score from scrimmage. The Tide special teams got the remaining points as Bryson Ranger added field goals of 40 and 26 and Javen Calloway blocked a punt and returned it 15 yards to the other score. Minden improved to 3-0 with the win and North Webster dropped to 1-2.

West Monroe 63, North DeSoto 14 The Griffins were tied with the Rebels at the end of one quarter 14-14 when disaster struck. Following a go-ahead score by West Monroe, North DeSoto fumbled the kickoff return and the Rebels cashed in another score to go up 28-14 and led 49-14 at the half. Timothy Hooper scored on a 3-yard scamper and Chaz McCormack a 39-yard pass from Luke Delafield for the Griffins two touchdowns.

It was the Griffins second loss in as many weeks and sit at 1-2 on the season. They will host rival Northwood to begin District 1-4A play next. Logansport 44, Bossier 12 The Bearkats were not able to make it back-to-back wins in falling to the Tigers and fall to 1-2 on the season.

Bossier will visit Booker T. Washington to begin District 1-4A play next. Woodlawn 28, Lakeview 0 The Knights picked up their first win on the season (1-2) with touchdowns from Quintin Wilson, Jeremiah Gustain and Alvis Gobert.
