Clare tells VCs: shut up on caps or suffer the consequences

Login Education Minister Jason Clare has written to university chiefs warning them to tone down their public criticism of Labor’s plan for caps on overseas students, telling them that if it fails in parliament they will be even worse off under the current system. Mr Clare has faced a barrage of criticism from higher education leaders for Labor’s proposal to limit new foreign student enrolments to 270,000 for 2025 by handing every university and college across the country a quota.
