City Hall has agreed to spend £100,000 on bringing run-down park toilets back into use. The facilities at Jenny Lind Park will be upgraded after funds were approved as part of Norwich City Council's annual budget setting. The toilets have been shut for years and while full demolition of the block was considered, the council believes restoration is possible.
While there is no timescale for works to be completed, it is hoped the number of visitors to the park will increase once the new facilities have opened. However, the £100,000 spend was agreed as part of an amendment put forward by independent councillors.
Karen Davis, leader of the independent group, said she hoped the reopening of the toilets would allow more people to enjoy the park "with dignity" in future. The Jenny Lind Park in NR2 was renovated last year with new swings and slides as part of a £1.1m three-year play area refurbishment programme funded by City Hall.
