The upper floor construction on the arrival section is nearly finished, and the apron is being expanded to accommodate more aircraft. By the end of next month, the apron will be able to park about 10 small aircraft.

Prayagraj airport is set to become the airport with the highest number of X-ray machines and check-in counters in the state by Dec. Additionally, this airport will also have the maximum number of six aerobridges before the Maha Kumbh. The current terminal building, which is 6,700sqm, is being expanded to 20,830sqm.

Two types of work are simultaneously being carried out at this airport. While the expansion work is ongoing, construction work is also being done to increase the facilities available within the current building's space. Once the first floor expansion is complete, the airport will be able to handle 850 passengers at a time.

The airport administration aims to finish this work by Oct this year, and the expansion work will be completed by Dec end. The construction of another taxiway is also nearly complete. Currently, there is only one taxiway connecting the main runway to the terminal building.

Having two taxiways will make it easier for aircraft to arrive and depart simultaneously. After the expansion, the number of X-ray machines will increase from two to 11. These X-ray machines will be equipped with advanced imaging technology.

Furthermore, the number of check-in counters will increase from 11 to 42. The five-lane road in front of the terminal building will be expanded to eight lanes. Regarding vehicle parking, the capacity will increase from 200 cars to 450 cars.

Additionally, there will be space for four buses to park. According to airport director Farrukh Ahsan, "The work to be done in the current building will be completed by Oct 24.".
