Simran Bagga's simmering career graph would be the envy of any ambitious actress. She started her career in Tamil cinema in 1997, and quickly moved to Telugu and Hindi cinema. Now, she is being appreciated in Citadel: Honey Bunny playing Zooni the helmer of the Citadel organisation in India.

The actress spoke to Zoom about her role and doing web shows after being a part of movies for so long. Being part of the Citadel franchise, what did that mean to you? It meant to me a responsibility as an actor to carry out an important part in the series which is a world franchise. What was your reaction when you were first offered the part? Didn’t you feel there was too little for you to do? I was happy when Citadel came my way.

It was supposed to be a solid role when it was offered. Personally as an audience if you ask me, I feel they could have done more with my portion it had lot of scope. You have always been a big screen actor, how different was the OTT experience? The big screen is always a big screen.

It is larger than life, it caters to audiences’ dreams and fantasy, which I feel OTT has taken away and it has given them the feel of staying grounded by touching on reality-based subjects. On the big screen, we mostly focus on hope for your dreams whereas OTT is the bitter reality. Personally, I feel hope should stay alive.

Never give up. My experience is ok with both OTT and the big screen. As an actor, I am here to entertain my audience.

Don’t you think you deserve author-backed films? Yes, I think I deserve that, but somewhere in balancing the act of a homemaker and work life, as a woman naturally the preference goes to making home first. While my children were growing up, I hardly focused on my work.

Whatever came my way, I choose as wisely as I could. Still, I feel I have done my best. I am happy and satisfied on that front.

As my children are growing up, Adheep has just left for his university and Aadit is in 8th grade. I have ample time to work for what I deserve. Now, I hope author-backed films will happen.

How would you describe your journey so far as an actor? My journey so far has been power-packed, busy, successful, courageous and still looking forward to solid roles to work in so I stay connected with my fans. There were and are ups and downs in my journey and some hurdles. But that’s the challenge that makes me recognise my potential of facing life head-on.

I love peace, so I try to forgive. Still, I feel there is room in me to improve. Most of your scenes in Honey Bunny are with Sikandar Kher.

Did you enjoy doing the show? Sikandar is a fabulous actor. He gave me a tough fight in all the scenes we did together. I feel he is a vastly underrated actor.

He should work more and more to showcase his abundance of talent to the world. He is apt for international movies too. Are you content with the content on offer? Do you mean my work? I always enjoy doing my work! Otherwise I don’t do it.

Rest is in the hands of the ones above. It depends on them where they want to see you in their product in this hugely competitive market. What next from you? Lots of good projects in Hindi and Tamil.

Another OTT prime series in Hindi. For more work satisfaction, I am planning to shape my work profile, since I have time now, so that I can live up to the expectations of my fans.
