Cinema promising 'unforgettable experience with affordable prices' opens in Essex

A brand new cinema that promises visitors an "unforgettable" experience is opening in Romford today (April 4). Lumiere will officially open today at the Mercury Mall in Romford. As the latest addition to Romford’s entertainment scene, Lumiere will bring a fresh and modern approach to movie-going, while also celebrating the things we love from the past.

Lumiere is a unique community co-operative that will be under continual "rebirth" until 2028, with new screens, new decor, new environments and places for community groups to gather. Located in the heart of the town, Lumiere Romford replaces Premiere Cinemas, carrying forward a legacy of accessible, high-quality entertainment while elevating it with state-of-the-art projection, crystal-clear sound, and a hugely diverse selection of films. There will be every genre of film available, from the latest blockbusters to indie gems and family favourites.

'The Discovery Screen' (Screen 5) - will specialise in independent films each and every day. Thanks to our Romford Film Festival connections, the Lumiere will offer five indie movies each day that you will not find on release in any other cinema.

'The Silver Screen' (Screen 7) is where cinema of the past will be celebrated. Here, visitors will enjoy curated seasons of films, mystery movie days, Touchstone Tuesdays and a retro Saturday Morning Pictures experience. 'The Odyssey Screen' is you can watch a mix of world cinema releases, concert films, and those arthouse films that usually never get screened in Romford.
