Sony TV' s long-running series CID, which has been airing for 27 years, recently stunned fans with Shivaji Satam's sudden departure as ACP Pradyuman. The veteran actor has been a prominent part of the show since its premiere in 1998, alongside Dayanand Shetty (Daya) and Aditya Srivastava (Abhijeet). However, the show's producers have made a controversial decision to replace Shivaji's character with newcomer Parth Samthaan rather than promoting senior inspector Abhijeet.
The makers’ decision has divided fans, with many questioning why Abhijeet couldn't be promoted instead of introducing a new character, sparking debate among viewers. Several CID fans took to X and called out the makers’ move. One fan wrote, “No one here is hating Parth (at least not CID Fans) they are upset with the decision for casting him as ACP senior of Daya and Abhijeet.
They gave life to the show and now we can't imagine them working under him. Its a disrespect and injustice to them as well as to CID Audience.” Another person shared their frustration, “But making him ACP, senior of Daya and Abhijeet is an injustice to the OG Cid viewers and to the trio who gave life to the show.
Daya and Abhijeet are legends and they don't deserve such treatment in the show.” Shivaji's iconic character, ACP Pradyuman, was written off the show after over 20 years, meeting a dramatic end in a recent episode. He will be replaced by Parth Samthaan, who will take on the role of the new ACP, Ayushmann, in upcoming episodes of CID.
During a recent conversation with Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan, Parth confirmed joining CID. He said, “It's actually a very big responsibility to fill in such shoes, such humongous shoes of ACP Pradyuman since I'm replacing him as ACP Ayushmann. It's a new character, a new story.

. In the final episode of ACP Pradyuman, actor and filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia returned to CID as Netra gang boss K Barbosa, killing Shivaji’s character in a bomb blast. The episode showed Pradyuman’s ring, through which his crew identified him with some of the fans speculating his potential return.
