Chungcheongbuk-do took part in the "2024 China International Travel Mart (CITM)", China's largest tourism fair, to promote its rich tourism resources to the Chinese market. The event, held from November 22 to 24 in Shanghai, was co-hosted by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Civil Aviation Administration, and Shanghai Municipal Government, spanning an impressive exhibition space of 53,000m2. At the fair, Chungcheongbuk-do showcased its unique tourism offerings, focusing on accessibility through Cheongju International Airport, wellness tourism, and family-oriented experiential travel packages.

Leveraging the direct flight route between Cheongju and Shanghai, the province emphasized its appeal as an attractive destination for Chinese tourists. The primary themes of Chungcheongbuk-do's promotion included Cheongnamdae, the 2025 Yeongdong World Traditional Music Expo, and the Jecheon International Oriental Medicine and Natural Products Expo, highlighting K-traditional culture and wellness tourism. Various interactive events captivated global visitors and explored opportunities for collaboration with the Chinese travel industry.

During the exhibition, Chungcheongbuk-do hosted a tourism briefing session with 24 major travel agencies from Shanghai, showcasing the uniqueness and appeal of its tourism content and products. Following the session, the team traveled to Hangzhou to hold in-depth discussions with representatives from six local travel agencies. In these meetings, Chungcheongbuk-do highlighted its diverse support measures, including incentives for charter flights, Cheongju International Airport's regular flight routes, and the province's robust tourism infrastructure, leaving a strong impression on travel industry stakeholders.

A Chungcheongbuk-do official stated, "This fair, along with the briefing session and meetings, served as a catalyst for revitalizing the Chinese inbound market, which has been sluggish. We plan to continue strengthening our tailored marketing strategies for the Chinese market, leveraging Chungcheongbuk-do's distinctive tourism resources to attract more inbound visitors." This initiative is expected to enhance Chungcheongbuk-do's competitiveness in the recovering Chinese tourism market post-COVID-19, establishing the province as a hub for K-culture and wellness tourism.
