After 15 years of service, Chuck Jolley has left Food Safety News.Jolley was ad director for the publication since its inception in 2009. He developed the first marketing plan for Food Safety News and served the organization until stepping down recently.

In addition to his role as ad director, Jolley also wrote opinion columns for Food Safety News.Chuck JolleyDuring his tenure with the publication, he served as the liaison between the publication and food safety trade associations and related events including the International Association for Food Protection, Center for Produce Safety, the China International Food Safety & Quality Conference, and Stop Foodborne Illness (STOP).Jolley is president of Jolley & Associates, a marketing and public relations firm that concentrates on the food industry.

He was the founder and president of the Meat Industry Hall of Fame, honoring the legendary figures of the industry. “I was honored to be part of a world class team of journalists from the beginning when FSN had less than 9,000 subscribers 15 years ago. Helping it grow to 44,000+ today was an exciting experience, one that was the highlight of my long career in publishing,” Jolley said.

“I know it will continue to be the ‘first read’ every day for industry professionals and a concerned public around the world. I’m not riding off into the sunset, though. I’ll still be here, and I’ll stay in touch with the hundreds of friends I’ve made in the business.

”Jolley graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in broadcast journalism and was publisher of Meat & Poultry, the leading business-to-business magazine serving the protein industry. He’s a frequent contributor of articles about food safety, agriculture and the meat and poultry industry to business-to-business magazines and web-based publications in North America.“Chuck was the reason that Food Safety News was one of the only publications that actually covered the ins and outs of the Washington D.

C. fights over the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA),” said Food Safety News publisher Bill Marler. “A little known fact is that Food Safety News was denied Capitol Hill credentials until we were able to show that we had actual ad revenue for outside sources.

Without Chuck, Food Safety News, with Helena Bottemiller, would never have had a view of the making of the legislation and to have recorded that history.”(To sign up for a free subscription to Food Safety News, click here).
